May is National Bike Month – Grab you helmet, your bike and get to PEDALING!!!!

Standard

Bicycling is one of my favorite things to do!  I am not a bike racer, I just like pedaling along at a smooth, leisurely pace and enjoying  the sights and sounds along my journey.  I like to stop at different venues that I pass and explore the city or town from a different vantage point.  I like bike riding because you get to GO, GO, GO –  faster, and farther.  One of my fondest childhood bicycling memories is coasting down a hill with my legs dangling in an upside down, V-formation.  There is something so carefree about those brief moments of gliding down the hill with the soft breeze of the wind gently brushing against your face.  Exquisite freedom!

May in National Bike Month!  The League of American Bicyclists is the national sponsor of Bike Month, and this year Bike to Work Week is May 14-18 and Bike to Work Day is Friday, May 18.

The inaugural Bike to School Day is on May 9, 2012.  The National Center for Safe Routes to School launched a newly redesigned website –www.walkbiketoschool.org – to support celebration of Bike to School Day in May, and walking and biking to school every day.  See Who’s Biking in 2012 in your neighborhood!

Visit the League of American Bicyclists‘ web page for some great ways to celebrate biking this month and throughout the year.  They also have some wonderful education and outreach resources to help promote bicycling as a way of life for you, your family and your community.

Ride easy!
